The USAISR is currently participating in an alternative personnel system known as the Personnel Demonstration Project.
Among other features, the Demonstration replaces GS grade levels with occupational families and paybands.
Future pay increases within a payband are accomplished through a pay for performance system based on an employee's individual performance.
